Simplified Mandarin, or simplified Chinese, is officially used in Mainland China, Singapore, Malaysia and the United Nations.
Cantonese is spoken mainly in the south east of China, particularly in Hong Kong, Macau, Guangdong, Guangxi, and Hainan. The province is also known by an alternative English name, the Canton Province.
