Denver is known as the Mile-High City due to its elevation being exactly one mile (5,280 feet) above sea level, making it the highest major city in the United States. Even though it is located in the Rockies, it is one of the flattest cities in the U.S. The city is the fastest-growing major city in the United States with a 2.8% increase in its population in 2015. It is also one of the most environmentally conscious cities, being the only city in history to turn down the Olympics, which were to be held in Denver in 1976, because voters were concerned with the effects the games could have on the State’s rich environment.  

This beautiful city is located in the South Platte River Valley on the western edge of the High Plains just east of the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains. In 2016, Denver was named the best place to live in the USA by U.S. News & World Report. Its location gives it a strategic advantage, as it is well connected to some of the major transportation networks and has therefore become a natural location for storage and distribution of goods and services

Denver has been home to many large corporations in the central United States, which makes it an essential trade point for the country. Due to its geography, Denver also has a large government presence, with many federal agencies based in the Denver area.
