    Audio and Video Questions

  1. HOW DO YOU SYNC THE VIDEO TO MY ORIGINAL?

    A translated script is never the same length as the original. Directors in the studio will watch your video and adapt the script to match the original recording. The director will hear the original audio with a head phone and speak your text at the same time in a comfortable rhythm or speed. When a paragraph is too long, the director pauses and shortens the paragraph, then repeats the same process until the adapted text fits perfectly.

  2. TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS:

    The video will be recorded at 44.1 or 48 KHz, 16 bit mono and delivered as .wav, aiff or mp3 unless otherwise specified. Audio files can be converted into different audio formats. Please let us know exactly what your needs are and we will surely be able to help you.

  3. HOW DO I CHOOSE THE RIGHT VOICE?

    Should you have a hard time deciding on the right voice for your project, the studio can help you by suggesting a few speakers. The studio’s participation in the selection process can be very helpful as the studio knows which speaker is best suited for which performance.

  4. CAN I BE PART OF THE RECORDING?

    Most studios are equipped with a phone line into the studio, a phone patch, so that you can listen to the session and talk to the speaker. But rest assured, the studios are professional studios, very familiar with voiceover production.

  5. HOW DO YOU DELIVER AUDIO RECORDINGS?

    Our preferred choice of delivery is via your ftp.

  6. WHAT IS THE TURN-AROUND TIME FOR ANY PRODUCTION?

    If you selected a certain speaker, we will have to schedule that speaker. Normal turn-around for a recording is 2-3 days, depending on the availability of the speaker. In cases where time is of the essence, the studio can select a speaker who is available for your production.

  8. HOW DO I KNOW THAT YOUR TRANSLATION IS CORRECT?

    Every translation is checked by a second professional as well as by your project manager. All translators have been tested. Translators and reviewers work closely together to assure the best possible results.

  9. IF I HAVE ADDITIONAL WORK AT A LATER TIME WILL THE TRANSLATION MATCH THE PREVIOUS WORK?

    Glossaries are prepared and kept for each client so that follow-up projects are consistent and use the same terminology as previously used.

  10. ACCENTS DO NOT SHOW UP ON MY COMPUTER, WHAT DO I DO?

    We will deliver your translation in the same format as we receive it. To avoid accent or font issues, we can also deliver a PDF file for printing and so that you can crosscheck against the original format.

  11. MY COMPUTER IS NOT EQUIPPED WITH THE CORRECT FONT; CAN YOU HELP ME?

    Along with the original format we will also deliver pdf files to avoid any font issues.

  12. IN WHAT FORMAT DO I NEED TO SEND YOU MY FILE FOR TRANSLATION?

    We accept most all formats: MS Word, Excel, PPT, RTF, csv from both Macintosh and PCs. We are always available for questions, please send us an email or call.

  14. I DON’T UNDERSTAND THE LANGUAGE; HOW DO I KNOW THAT THE TEXT IS ERROR-FREE?

    All our translations are handled by tested translators and are being reviewed by a second professional. Once we have your project formatted, it is being sent to the translator or reviewer for final review. An report is prepared by the translator or reviewer, the changes are implemented and sent back to the translator or reviewer for re-check. This is done until the translator or reviewer reports back that everything is correct.

  15. CAN YOU HANDLE RIGHT TO LEFT LANGUAGES?

    Yes, we can handle right to left languages. When formatting, all text and pictures need to be reversed. Imagine an instructional pamphlet of how to add detergent to a washing machine, if the sequence of the photos is not reversed, you would think that you add the detergent when the washing cycle is completed.

  16. CAN YOU FORMAT MY BUSINESS CARD INTO ASIAN LANGUAGES?

    Yes, for business travelers, we often translate a business card into another language, which is then added to the back of the card.

  17. HOW DO I PRINT LANGUAGES WHEN I DON’T HAVE THE CORRECT FONT?

    Asian and some other languages require the use of a different operating system for formatting. The final file therefore can only be printed from Indesign or Quark if you have that same system. We therefore delivery high-resolution PDF files which are ready for printing. You will not need to install any fonts when you receive a PDF file.

  18. Interpretation Questions

  19. FOR OUR UPCOMING CONFERENCE I NEED SIMULTANEOUS INTERPRETERS FOR ONE DAY. HOW MANY INTERPRETERS DO I NEED?

    Simultaneous interpretation is very strenuous and requires two people who can take turns. If your conference is long and very technical, two or at least one other professional is needed to ensure smooth interpretation.

  20. I HAVE TWO PEOPLE COMING TO TOWN FOR A MEETING AND DON’T SPEAK THEIR LANGUAGE; HOW DO YOU HANDLE THAT?

    We have various interpreters throughout the country available who can join your meeting and either whisper the translation or do a consecutive interpretation for all to hear. One person speaks, then pauses during which time the interpreter relates the content to the people.

  21. I NEED SOMEBODY TO ACCOMPANY ME TO EUROPE AND HELP ME DURING MY STAY, CAN YOU HELP ME?

    We have various interpreters in the US, Asia and Europe. We can have somebody travel with you or meet you at your destination and help you while abroad.
