Luxembourgish is spoken in Luxembourg, in addition to French and German.
Luxembourgish (French: Luxembourgeois, German: Luxemburgisch, Dutch: Luxemburgs), also called Luxembourgian, also spelled Luxemburgish, is one of the West Central German dialects of High German spoken in Luxembourg. While it is the national language there, it is only one of three administrative languages, along with French and German, and is used in pre-school education in Luxembourg. Primary education is in German and senior education is in French. English is also part of the curriculum.
Local radio stations broadcast a few hours of German, French and Luxembourgish each week, and some also have English hours.
Debates in the Luxembourg parliament are carried out mainly in Luxembourgish, though some deputies prefer to use French. Laws are drafted in French, but people are free to use French, German or Luxembourgish in when dealing with administrative and judicial matters.
Luxembourgish uses a Latin font. The Luxembourgish alphabet consists of the 26 Latin letters plus: "é", "ä", and "ë". When French and German words are used, the same diacritics are preserved.
